16" to 22"Tunable Goatskin HeadHeat-Bent Mulberry FrameLeather Beater Included

Ideal for: Players who want to set the pitch of their drum, and anyone playing in changing weather

A shaman-style frame drum with a goatskin head you can tune.

A natural skin head rises and falls with the humidity. This Roosebeck adds interior tuning, so you can bring the head back to the tension you like instead of waiting for the weather. The goatskin head sits on a heat-bent mulberry frame about 2 inches deep, and a leather beater is included.

A Voice You Can Set

Tighten the head for a brighter, more focused tone; loosen it for a deeper, softer one. The 16 inch is the most manageable to hold; the 18 and 22 inch drums have a lower, longer voice.

Interior Tuning, Goatskin Head

The tuning system sits inside the frame, out of the way of your hands and the head. The goatskin head is natural, so each drum has its own markings and its own voice.

Holding and Playing

Hold the drum upright by the back of the frame with one hand and play with the leather beater in the other. Strike near the center for the deepest tone and toward the rim for a brighter, more articulate sound. Bare hands give a softer, more intimate voice.

Tuning

Make small adjustments a little at a time and let the head settle between them. Loosen the head slightly if the drum will be stored somewhere very dry.
