Wind & Ceremonial

Two distinct traditions in one collection. The Native American style flutes and the Systrum by Tahya share a category in our catalog because both are designed for ceremonial, contemplative, and personal playing rather than for performance ensemble. The
traditions and the instruments themselves are entirely different.

Native American style flutes, two voices. Our Native American style flute models offer two voicings: one with satinwood and one with rosewood, both producing their unique tones. Hand-shaped wood bodies, traditional block-and-flue construction.

The Systrum by Tahya is its own instrument. Designed by drum and movement artist Tahya, the Systrum is a hand-held frame instrument inspired by ancient Egyptian ceremonial instruments. It is shaken, not played in the conventional sense, and produces a distinctive metallic sound that suits movement, ritual, and meditative
settings.

Built for personal playin. These are instruments for the player, for ceremony, and for personal practice.

Choosing yours

The Native American style flutes suit players drawn to meditative, contemplative playing or to the broader tradition of solo wind instruments. No music theory is required. The pentatonic
scale built into the instrument means whatever you play sounds musical.

The Systrum suits players involved in movement work, ritual practice, drum circles, or who already work with Tahya's broader catalog of instruments and recordings. More information on
the design and the artist's work is available at EnSoulMusic.com.

Playing it

The Native American style flute is one of the most beginner-friendly wind instruments in existence. Most players produce a clean note on the first breath and a recognizable melody within ten minutes. The pentatonic tuning makes wrong notes effectively impossible.

The Systrum is shaken with the wrist rather than blown or struck. Technique is a matter of personal exploration rather than formal lessons.

Every instrument in this collection ships with an owner's guide appropriate to the tradition.
