Ideal for: Anyone starting the bagpipes, and pipers who want a chanter for quiet daily practice

A traditional size practice chanter, the first step to learning the bagpipes.

This traditional size Roosebeck practice chanter is in B-flat, with an engraved nickel plated ferrule and sole, and comes with a reed. Choose Rosewood or satinwood, and add the book and audio course by Pipe Major R.T. Shepherd if you are teaching yourself. It is about 19 inches long assembled.

Your First Step to the Pipes

Every piper starts on the practice chanter. It has the same fingering as the bagpipe chanter but a quiet reed and no bag, so you can learn the scale, the grace notes and your first tunes before taking on the full instrument.

The Book and Audio Course

The book has photographs of finger positions, exercises and melodies; the audio download can be used alone or alongside the book.

Rosewood or Satinwood

Both woods are turned to the traditional size with an engraved nickel plated ferrule and sole. Grain varies from chanter to chanter. The stock is about 0.6 inches across.
