Solid Red Cedar Carved Spiral Column Adjustable 41-59" Single Tray 20" × 13" Shelf

Ideal for: Players who want the spiral design in a warmer, lighter-toned wood

The spiral music stand in warm red cedar.

The same Spiral design, built in solid red cedar instead of rosewood. What changes is the look: warm reddish-brown heartwood with a fine, even texture and straight grain, sometimes streaked with pale yellow sapwood, where the rosewood version reads darker and more uniform. It is also a little lighter, 8.1 pounds against 8.7. Everything else, the 26-inch carved column, the 20-by-13-inch bookshelf, the adjustment range, is identical.

Solid Red Cedar with Carved Spiral

The carved 26-inch spiral column is the same as the rosewood version, rendered in solid red cedar. The wood is sustainably cultivated, with a fine, even texture and straight grain. The heartwood runs a warm reddish to violet-brown and may be accented by pale yellow streaks of sapwood, so no two stands look quite alike.

About the wood: The botanical name for red cedar, Cedrus deodara, derives from the Sanskrit devadaaru, meaning "wood of the gods." Several Hindu legends refer to forests of devadaaru.

Same Adjustability, Slightly Lighter

Total height ranges from 41 to 59 inches. The 20-by-13-inch bookshelf is generous enough for oversize scores. The angle adjusts to multiple notched positions for comfortable reading. The 19.5-inch foot spread provides stability without taking up excess floor space.

At 8.1 pounds against the rosewood stand's 8.7, this is the lighter of the two, though the difference is small enough that most players will choose on appearance rather than weight.

Red cedar or rosewood: Rosewood is darker, denser, and holds carved detail with a little more crispness. Red cedar is warmer in color and more varied in grain. Both use the same design, the same dimensions, and the same three-foot base.
