Roosebeck Baroque Guitar 5-Course, Lacewood & Rosewood

Roosebeck Baroque Guitar 5-Course, Lacewood & Rosewood

5 Courses / 10 Strings Lacewood & Rosewood Spruce Top Carved Rosette 26" Scale

Ideal for: Classical guitarists exploring Baroque repertoire who prefer the warmer voice of rosewood

The 5-course Baroque guitar in warm rosewood and lacewood.

Same proven Baroque guitar build, with rosewood replacing walnut for a warmer, deeper voice. Alternating staves of lacewood and rosewood on the body create a beautiful contrast that catches the light. The lacewood neck with a rosewood fingerboard gives you a period-correct feel under the left hand. Topped with spruce and finished with a four-layer parchment-style rosette carved directly into the soundboard.

Warm, Rich Baroque Voice

Five courses of two strings each, three nylon, two silver-wound, produce a warmer, richer tone than the lacewood-walnut version, thanks to the density of the rosewood back and sides. The spruce top with its carved parchment rosette gives the instrument period-correct articulation.

About rosewood: A dense, warm-toned hardwood prized for its complex harmonic response. It darkens the overall tone and adds sustain compared to walnut.

Lacewood and Rosewood, Period-Correct Detailing

The body alternates lacewood and rosewood staves on the sides and back in a matte finish. The neck is lacewood with a rosewood fingerboard. Tied nylon frets on the neck plus six rosewood frets on the spruce soundboard cover the full Baroque range. The wooden tapered tuning pegs are period-correct rather than modern geared.

Why the matte finish: Most Baroque instruments were finished matte rather than glossy. The matte spec is faithful to surviving period examples.

Tuned A D G B E for Baroque Repertoire

Suggested tuning is A, D, G, B, E (range A2–G5). This standard Baroque guitar tuning opens up the Sanz, Corbetta, and de Visée repertoire. The 26-inch scale is comfortable for any classical guitarist transitioning to period instruments.

Six fixed soundboard frets: The fixed rosewood frets on the spruce top extend the playing range higher than the neck alone allows characteristic of Baroque construction.
