The Deluxe Prima with a full rosewood stave bowl and reinforced pancer.

The Deluxe Prima Balalaika takes the classic 27-inch Russian three-string and elevates it with a stave bowl built entirely from solid rosewood, larger position markers on the fretboard, and a screw-secured pancer (the rosewood guard plate below the neck) for added durability. Deluxe models also feature flush inlays and refined handcraft details that distinguish them at a glance from the standard Prima line.

Warmer, Denser Voice from a Solid Rosewood Bowl

A bowl made from a single tonewood (rather than alternating staves) produces a more uniform resonance with deeper low-end response. Rosewood is denser than walnut or lacewood, and that density translates into longer sustain and a warmer overall character. Three nylon strings tuned A, E, E deliver the percussive shimmer that defines the Prima voice.

About rosewood: Rosewood is one of the most prized tonewoods in stringed instrument making. It's dense, resonant, and develops richer character as it plays in over the years.

Deluxe Details Throughout

The Deluxe Prima is built with stave construction in solid rosewood, no alternating contrast woods. The bowl has a single, refined character that matches the rosewood pancer below the soundboard. Larger position markers on the fretboard make navigating the upper registers easier, particularly under stage lighting.

The pancer on the Deluxe model is secured by screws along the edges, a meaningful upgrade over standard glue-only construction. This protects the soundboard from strumming wear and adds long-term durability.

What "deluxe" actually means: Larger fretboard position markers, additional handcrafted detail work, flush inlays, and the screw-reinforced pancer. Visually and structurally a step above the standard Prima.
