Ideal for: Intermediate students, adult beginners ready to grow, and gigging musicians
Roosebeck's mid-size lever harp, dressed in hand-carved thistle.
The Heather Harp is big enough for serious playing and light enough to carry to lessons and performances. Twenty-two DuPont nylon strings cover three full octaves from C3 to C6, giving you the range for a wide repertoire of Celtic, classical, and folk music. This Thistle edition adds hand-carved thistle designs to the rosewood side panels for a distinctive, traditional look.
Warm, Resonant Three-Octave Voice
Twenty-two DuPont nylon strings span C3 to C6, covering three full octaves for Celtic, classical, and folk repertoire. The solid rosewood frame pairs with a high-quality plywood soundboard for a warm, resonant voice with good projection, the kind of tone that fills a room without overwhelming it.
About the tonewoods: Rosewood is a dense hardwood prized for warmth and resonance. Paired with a responsive plywood soundboard, it produces a balanced voice across the full range.
Hand-Carved Thistle and Chelby Levers
The engraved and inlaid rosewood frame features hand-carved thistle designs in the side panels, a dignified nod to Scottish tradition. Every string has its own Chelby lever, engaging from the side to prevent string lift-off. Color-coded caps (red for C, blue for F) make key changes fast and confident.
Each lever mounts with two screws for stability and can be fine-tuned with a hex wrench for precise intonation.
Why Chelby levers matter: Cheap levers can buzz, slip, or pull strings out of position when engaged. Chelby levers are engineered to stay precisely in place and deliver a clean half-step every time.
A Harp You Can Grow Into
At approximately 36 inches tall and 11 pounds, the Heather strikes the right balance between portability and presence. It's an excellent choice for intermediate students moving up from a smaller harp, or adult beginners who want to start with an instrument they can grow into for years.
Coming from a smaller harp? The extra octave and the full three-octave range opens up huge new sections of standard harp repertoire. Most players find the transition natural within a few sessions.
