4-String Tenor Round-Back Bowl Lacewood & Rosewood Spruce Top 1607 Rosette

Ideal for: Ukulele players who want a more sophisticated voice and lute-like aesthetic

The tenor ukulele in lute clothing.

The Baroq-ulele is the ukulele reimagined in a lute body shape. It's a tenor scale of 430mm (17 inches) with standard ukulele tuning, built with a bowl-back body of alternating lacewood and rosewood staves, a European spruce soundboard with a carved 1607 rosette, and standard friction ukulele tuners with adjustable tension. It's still a ukulele, easy to pick up and instantly familiar, but with a voice and look that stand out from the crowd.

A Sweeter, More Resonant Ukulele Voice

The lute-style bowl back combined with the spruce soundboard produces a noticeably warmer, more resonant tone than a standard flat-back ukulele. The variegated body adds tonal complexity, lacewood for clarity, rosewood for warmth, that gives the Baroq-ulele a uniquely sweet voice.

About bowl-back construction: The bowl shape distributes resonance more openly than a flat back, giving the instrument a fuller, more three-dimensional sound.

Variegated Lacewood and Rosewood Bowl

The bowl alternates staves of lacewood and rosewood for a striking visual contrast. The European spruce soundboard carries a carved rosette based on a 1607 lute by Magno Stegher, one of a set of rosettes drawn from 16th and 17th-century museum instruments. The neck is solid rosewood, set to ukulele playing dimensions, with a cattle-bone nut and saddle.

About the tuners: The Baroq-ulele uses standard friction ukulele tuners, the traditional choice for this style of instrument. A tension screw on top of each tuner lets you set exactly how firmly it holds pitch, light and quick or snug and stable, to your own feel.

Standard Tenor Ukulele Tuning

Tuned in standard tenor ukulele tuning. If you can play any other ukulele, you can play this one, same chords, same fingering, same songs. The lute body shape gives you a different voice but doesn't change the technique.

For ukulele players: Think of the Baroq-ulele as your existing ukulele dressed up. Same instrument, much more elegant in your hands.
