5-String Solid Rosewood Spruce Top Vaulted Fretboard

Ideal for: Intermediate players, guitarists crossing over, and fingerstyle enthusiasts

Everything you love about the Grace, with an extra string to stretch out on.

For players ready to explore beyond traditional 4-string territory, the 5-string Grace opens up a wider range of musical possibilities. That fifth string adds fuller chord voicings, richer harmonies, and more fingerpicking options, all while keeping the approachable character that makes mountain dulcimers so enjoyable.

Fuller Chords, Richer Harmonies

The fifth string adds depth and complexity to the Grace's signature voice. Solid rosewood and a spruce soundboard produce the same warm, full-bodied tone as the 4-string, with more harmonic range and more room to experiment. Four classic f-hole openings project the sound clearly.

About the tonewoods: Rosewood is a dense hardwood prized for warmth and resonance. The spruce soundboard responds dynamically to both strumming and fingerpicking.

The Trusted Grace Design, Expanded

The foundation is the same trusted Grace design: solid rosewood body, spruce soundboard, vaulted fretboard, and classic f-hole openings. The vaulted construction gives the soundboard room to breathe, producing impressive volume and projection for the instrument's size.

Five geared right-angle tuners with a 14:1 ratio keep every string precisely in tune.

Why vaulted matters: On a flat-fretboard dulcimer, the fretboard sits directly on the soundboard, dampening vibration. The Grace's vaulted design creates an air gap that lets the soundboard resonate freely.

A Natural Step Up

Whether you are coming from a 4-string dulcimer and want to expand your range, or you are a guitarist looking for a folk instrument with familiar chord shapes, the 5-string Grace is an excellent step forward. The 18-fret layout includes the 6½ and 13½ frets for chromatic capability.

Coming from guitar? The extra string makes full chord voicings feel more familiar, and fingerstyle patterns translate naturally. Most guitarists find their way around a dulcimer within an afternoon.
