Ideal for: Ukulele players who want a deeper, larger, more historically inspired instrument
The deepest-voiced instrument in our ukulele collection.
The Baroq-ulele is our own design, a hybrid ukulele with a round-back lute bowl, and this Baritone is the deepest-voiced member of the family. Built on a 480mm (19-inch) scale, significantly longer than a standard baritone uke, it produces a warm, guitar-like tone that's rich in bass and sustain.
Warm, Guitar-Like Baritone Voice
The extended 480mm scale produces a warm, guitar-like tone that's rich in bass and sustain. This is the deepest-voiced instrument in our ukulele collection, with noticeably more low-end presence than a standard baritone uke.
About the extended scale: Standard baritone ukuleles usually have scale lengths around 432-450mm. At 480mm, the Baroq-ulele sits closer to a classical guitar's scale, producing a fuller bass response and longer sustain.
German Round-Back Design, 17th-Century Rosette
The round-back body is constructed from rosewood staves in a bowl shape inspired by the German round-back guitar. The European spruce soundboard features a four-point rosette design taken from a 17th-century lute, a distinctive visual detail that sets this apart from any production ukulele.
A cattle-bone nut and saddle ensure precise intonation. Friction tuners with adjustable tension screws provide reliable tuning. The rosewood bridge and end-pin strap button complete a well-appointed instrument.
Why the round-back bowl: The rounded bowl shape, borrowed from lute construction, projects sound differently than a flat-back ukulele. The result is a more focused, resonant voice with a surprisingly large acoustic footprint.
A Format of Our Own Making
The Baroq-ulele doesn't exist anywhere else, we invented it. For players who love the ukulele format but want a larger, deeper instrument with historical character, this baritone delivers something no other maker offers.
New to baritone ukulele: Baritone uke is tuned like the top four strings of a guitar (DGBE), which makes it immediately familiar to guitarists. The Baroq-ulele bowl and extended scale just add character on top of that familiar tuning.
